This site exists because I got tired of reviews that sound like press releases. If you’ve ever read a “hands-on” that’s clearly just reworded marketing copy, or a review that spends three paragraphs praising a product before mentioning it crashes twice a day, you know what I mean.
Here’s how this site works.
Independence matters. Most of the hardware I review, I buy. When a company sends a review unit, I say so in the review. I don’t let them see the review before it goes live. I don’t agree to “key messaging” or talking points. If they don’t like what I wrote, that’s their problem, not yours.
No affiliate links disguised as advice. If I recommend something, it’s because I’d buy it myself, not because it pays the best commission. When I do use affiliate links (Amazon, Newegg, etc.), they’re clearly marked. The commission doesn’t change what I recommend — I’m not steering you toward overpriced garbage for a few extra bucks.
Corrections happen out loud. I mess up sometimes. Wrong spec, misread benchmark, didn’t notice a firmware update that fixed the issue I complained about. When that happens, I update the review and note the correction at the top. I don’t silently edit and pretend I got it right the first time.
Comments stay open. If you think I’m wrong, say so. If you had a different experience with the same hardware, that’s valuable. I’ll delete spam and abuse, but I won’t delete criticism just because it makes me look bad.
No sponsored content, no “partnerships.” Companies have offered to pay for coverage. The answer is always no. The day I start running sponsored reviews is the day you should stop reading.
If you ever think I’ve compromised on any of this, email me. I’d rather know than not.
